Okay, so here is one more entrant into the mobile OS world. Mozilla has now unveiled a preview of its exclusive mobile operating system, the Firefox OS. This HTML5-based OS is all set to arrive as early as next month.
This new OS will feature on two smartphones manufactured by the lesser-established Geeksphone. While one of these devices is a midrange smartphone known as Geeksphone Peak, the second one is just an entry-level device, called Geeksphone Keon.
The Peak includes a Snapdragon S4 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. Other features include a 1,800mAh battery, 2 megapixel front-facing camera and an 8 megapixel rear camera with flash.
The Keon comes with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor, 512MB RAM and 4GB internal memory. Additional features are a 1,580mAh battery, a 3 megapixel camera, support for 3G HSPA, microSD card, Wi-Fi, G-sensor, GPS and more. Both these phones will be unlocked.
I for one can't wait to get my hands on this bleeding edge technology. How many of you developers would be ready to create applications for the Firefox OS at this point in time?
