Microsoft Brings Outlook Email App to the Apple Watch

Emails, notes, appointments, and more right on your wrist

In August 2015, Microsoft debuted Outlook for iOS, bringing Outlook's functionality to the Apple Watch and other wearable devices. The free app joined the company's other offerings and integrations for wearables, which now include OneDrive, OneNote, PowerPoint, Skype, Sunrise, Wunderlist, Yammer, and more.

Notable Features

With Outlook on your watch, you can:

  • Receive notifications from Outlook's Focused Inbox.
  • Read full emails.
  • Reply, schedule, flag, delete, and archive messages directly from your watch.
  • Use Quick Replies, which are responses and voice dictations you create ahead of time for frequent use.
  • View the next appointment on your calendar.
  • Dictate notes to yourself as reminders.
  • Set up Siri shortcuts.

Microsoft's Strategy

The app is a logical extension of Microsoft's continued push to extend its services beyond the Windows platform. The move also aimed to cement Outlook's ongoing position as a leading personal information management app.

How to Get Outlook for Your Apple Watch

Microsoft Outlook for iOS is available in the Apple App Store as a standalone app and as part of Microsoft 365.

A paid Microsoft 365 subscription is required to use the app.
